Born and raised in Tweed Heads on the Queensland-New South Wales border, Harris considers her hometown to be the Gold Coast due to the close proximity of the two areas.

Harris explained to Marie Claire Magazine that the couple had opted to keep the wedding secret after the pair were involved in a tragic accident in 2012, resulting in the death of a 78 year old grandfather.
