Samburu District

It covered an area of roughly 21,000 km2 (8,000 mi2) in northern Kenya where the Samburu tribe live.

In 1935, Samburu and Laikipia were merged within the Rift Valley Province, where they remained in place until 1947 when they were separated.

Several merges will follow thereafter until 1962 when Samburu was as one of the districts of Rift Valley of Kenya.

[2][3] Within Samburu district were the towns of Maralal (capital), Baragoi, Archers Post, South Horr, Wamba and Lodosoit.

It also included the Samburu National Reserve and Buffalo Springs National Reserve, Mount Ng'iro, Ndoro Mountains, Mathews Range (Ol Doinyo Lenkiyo), Kirisia Hills, and Loroki Forest.
