Carrying on from Davin, Highway 48 provides access to the communities of Vibank,[5] Odessa,[6] Kendal, Montmartre,[7] Candiac, and Glenavon.
Highway 48 crosses the Chapleau Lakes,[9] which is the source of Moose Mountain Creek, between Kendal and Montmartre.
Communities along that stretch include Peebles,[10] Windthorst,[11] Kipling,[12] and Kennedy.
At the northern slopes of the Moose Mountain Upland, the concurrency ends with Highway 9 continuing south into Moose Mountain Provincial Park and Highway 48 turning east towards Wawota.
PR 257 eventually meets up with the Trans-Canada Highway at Virden, Manitoba.
