They are the descendants of Panrutti Adhilakshmi fondly called "Panrutti Ammal", mother of Carnatic singers P. A. Rajamani and P. A. Periyanayaki, who were popularly known as the Madras Sisters (Not to be confused with the Madras Sisters (Sashi, Kala, and Mala).
