Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple

Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple (built 1940–41) is a Japanese Jodo Shinshu Buddhist temple in Seattle, Washington, United States.

[1] Although it was designed by Japanese American Kichio Allen Arai,[1] the architect of record was Pierce A. Horrocks, because Arai lacked an architectural license.

[2] It replaced an earlier building (built 1906–1908 by Saunders & Lawton) that was torn down as part of the Yesler Terrace project.

[4] An arson fire on December 31, 2023, destroyed the temple's archives and damaged an altar.
