As well as a large number of unincorporated communities, the township also includes a portion of the Baraga State Forest which lies along the shores of Keweenaw Bay.
[7][4] The mostly uninhabited 91-acre Rabbit Island, located offshore in Lake Superior, is a part of the township.
[17] Jacobsville has a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb) with warm summers and cold, snowy winters.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,860 people, 740 households, and 523 families residing in the township.
25.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
