Seo Yeongsuhap

Through her mother, Lady Seo was a great-great-great-granddaughter of Princess Jeongmyeong and Hong Ju-won.

Through paternal grandfather, Yeongsuhap and the future Queen Sunwon, King Jeongjo’s daughter-in-law, were third cousins.

[1] She published hundreds of poems in an anthology, and included an appendix to her husband's memoir.

Alongside Yi Bingheogak, she is mentioned as one of two female scholars to make a name for themselves within practical learning.

[3] Her third son, Hong Hyeon-ju, married Princess Sukseon,[2] the only daughter of King Jeongjo of Joseon, who herself is known for inventing Kkakdugi, i.e. the diced radish kimchi.
