Shoal Bay, British Columbia

Shoal Bay The town of Thurlow in Shoal Bay was once a thriving gold mine town in British Columbia in the Inside Passage in the Discovery Islands of British Columbia, Canada, located on the northeast side of East Thurlow Island.

Once the largest town (1895-1900) on the western coast of Canada,[citation needed] Shoal Bay was a hub for mining and forestry.

When mining slowed in the early 20th century there was a shift towards timber and fishing.

Today, Shoal Bay now has a population of 2 full time residents.
