Simon Chung

Ancestral hometown: Huizhou, Guangdong province, China

[1] Chung was born and brought up in Hong Kong, and from the age of fifteen, in the city of Toronto in Canada, where he attended high school.

He was later educated at York University in Toronto, where he majored in Film, followed by Hong Kong Baptist University, in Kowloon Tong in Hong Kong, where he made his first independent films in the technical department and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shatin, in Hong Kong's New Territories, where he took a master's degree in Cultural Studies.

His second feature, End of Love, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009, while his third, Speechless, premiered at the BFI London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival.

He is a founding member of Ying e Chi, an independent film distributor in Hong Kong.
