Sira Church (Nesset)

It is the church for the Eresfjord parish which is part of the Molde domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Møre.

The white, wooden church was built in an octagonal design in a neo-Gothic style in 1869 using plans drawn up by the architect Christian H. Grosch.

In 1647–1648, the church at Sira was renovated and expanded from a single-nave stave church into a building with a cruciform floor plan by adding two timber-framed transepts to the north and south.

[3][4] In 1708, one of the walls of the choir collapsed, so plans were made to replace the old church.

In an inspection in 1862, it was established that the church was both dilapidated and too small in relation to the population in the parish, so plans were made for replacing the building.
