It is part of the Lebanon, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Two census-designated places are in the township: Campbelltown in the northwest and Timber Hills in the southeast.
The borough of Mount Gretna borders the southeastern side of the township.
As of the census[6] of 2000, there were 5,458 people, 2,062 households, and 1,585 families residing in the township.
19.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
