It is 20 miles (32 km) northwest of the city of Jackson, the county seat.

The racial makeup of the township was 97.71% White, 0.27% African American, 0.50% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races.

There were 770 households, out of which 37.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.8% were non-families.

18.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
