Passengers caught travelling on the Edinburgh Trams without a valid ticket are issued a £10 standard fare.
[1] Passengers caught travelling on the Manchester Metrolink without a valid ticket used to be issued a £100 Standard Fare which was reduced to £50 if paid within 14 days.
Failure to pay the standard fare was a criminal offence.
[2] This has changed and it is now a penalty fare of £120 (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days).
However, any person who fails to pay a standard fare within a defined time (usually 21 days) after incurring it is liable to prosecution.
