It was built in 1838 as a cooperative venture between three church congregations and the town, and is a fine local example of Gothic Revival architecture.
It is a single-story rectangular wood-frame structure, with a gabled roof, clapboarded exterior, and a high stone foundation.
The interior has an entry vestibule leading into the sanctuary, which is finished in plaster with simple vertical wainscoting.
[2] Prior to the construction of this building, Starksboro's town meetings were generally held in the village schoolhouse.
In 1868, the Free Will Baptists built their own church on the south side of the village, and the Christian dwindled and eventually died out, leaving the Methodists as the sole religious occupants.
