Stephen Longfellow

Stephen Longfellow (March 23, 1776 – August 2, 1849)[1] was a U.S. Representative from Maine.

[2] He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1801 and commenced practice in Portland, Maine.

He belonged to the Federalist Party and was a delegate to the Hartford Convention in 1814 and 1815.

[3][4] One of its founding members, he also served as president of the Maine Historical Society in 1834.

Longfellow died in Portland, Maine, on August 2, 1849, and was buried in the Western Cemetery.
