The racial makeup of the town was 85.02% White, 11.11% African American, 1.93% from other races.

40.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 22.02% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The Town of Sturgis is served by the Starkville Oktibbeha Consolidated School District.
