With a capacity of 13,000 people, it is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of FK Spartak Subotica from 1945.
There is a football pitch and a registered track for athletics suitable for competitions.
It was part of the major architectural project by Dr. Kosta Petrović named "Veliki narodni park" (Great People's Park) and meant to serve the city with all necessary structures for sports and entertainment.
The stadium was inaugurated on 6 June 1936, for the "Sokolski slet", an event that gathered all the "Sokol" associations from the northern region of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
The further development of the sports complex was interrupted with the beginning of the Second World War and never completed afterwards.
