The district has three revenue divisions Suryapet, Kodad and Huzurnagar.

The district is spread over an area of 3,374.41 square kilometres (1,302.87 sq mi).

Suryapet has a sex ratio of 996 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 64.11%.

Tollywood actors Kanta Rao, Prabhakar Reddy, Venu Madhav were from Suryapet District.
