Takasago, Hyōgo

[2] Takasago is located in southern Hyōgo prefecture facing Harima Bay on the Seto Inland Sea.

Most of the city area is located in the alluvial plain formed on the west side of the mouth of the Kakogawa River, and the coastline is mostly reclaimed land.

Hyōgo Prefecture Takasago has a Humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall.

The place name "Takasago" is found in early Heian period documents, and it was known as a fishing port and for salt production.

Takasago has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral city council of 19 members.

In terms of national politics, the city is part of Hyōgo10th district of the lower house of the Diet of Japan.
