[4] She completed her dissertation entitled "Investigations on the Plane Quartic" under doctoral advisor Frank Morley.
[4] She advanced to the rank of full professor, one of only a handful of women to have that status at Penn State at that time.
Due to University regulations she officially retired in 1962, but she maintained an office in the Department of Mathematics and tutored students for free until 1985 at the age of 94, when an accident forced her to return to her native Baltimore and enter a nursing home.
At the time of her death, Cohen was the oldest surviving Goucher College alumna and member of the Mathematical Association of America.
The Teresa Cohen Tutorial Endowment Fund at Pennsylvania State University was established in her honor.
