Thomas Hubert Ollendick (born 1945 in Nebraska)[2] is an American psychologist known for his work in clinical child and adolescent psychology and cognitive behavior therapy with children.
From 1999 to the present, he has been a University Distinguished Professor of psychology at Virginia Tech, and the Director of their Child Study Center.
His books include one of the first books written for the treatment of children and adolescents called Clinical Behavior Therapy with Children in 1981 (Plenum Press) and more recently the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (2018) and Innovations in CBT Treatment for Childhood Anxiety, OCD, and PTSD (2019, Cambridge).
The recipient of several NIMH grant awards, his clinical and research interests range from the study of diverse forms of child psychopathology to the assessment, treatment, and prevention of these child disorders from a social learning/social cognitive theory perspective.
He has served as the mentor and dissertation advisor for 45 doctoral students – all since joining Virginia Tech in 1980.
