Thomas P. Gere

Thomas Parke Gere (December 10, 1842 – January 8, 1912) was a Union Army officer who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Nashville in the American Civil War.

He enlisted in the 5th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment at age 19, mustering in on January 17, 1862, at Fort Snelling.

His commander died at the Battle of Redwood Ferry which made him the senior officer of the garrison.

He was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 24, 1865, for his actions at the Battle of Nashville, Tennessee, December 16, 1864.

[1] Lieutenant Gere was a companion of the Iowa Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States.
