The official school colors are red and white.
Tunstall High School was one of four white high schools in Pittsylvania County to accept black students during the Freedom of Choice era.
[1] Over 100 black students integrated at the school during this time.
[1][2] In 2016, Tunstall was named a National Blue Ribbon school by the U.S. Department of Education.
Tunstall was the only high school in the state of Virginia to win the award.
