Tyvis Chansey Powell (born February 16, 1994) is an American former professional football safety.
[1][2] Following his verbal commitment to Ohio State in June 2011, Powell accepted an athletic scholarship to play for coach Urban Meyer's Buckeyes in the fall of 2012.
In 2013, Powell began his collegiate career as a backup safety to Corey Brown.
He was named the Defensive MVP of the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship victory over Oregon Ducks after he had a game-high nine tackles.
[9] Powell signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL draft.
[28] On November 1, 2018, he started at Free Safety in the 49ers' Week 9 game against the Oakland Raiders.
[29] On December 4, 2018, Powell was signed to the New York Jets practice squad, but was released a week later.
[35] He was waived/injured during final roster cuts on August 31,[36] and reverted to the team's injured reserve list the next day.
On November 12, 2019, Powell was signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad.
