It is being built on the site of a demolished unfinished TV tower.
The ellipsoidal ice arena will occupy an area of 5 hectares.
Completion was planned for 2023, for the Summer Universiade in Yekaterinburg and the 300th anniversary of the city, then postponed to December 2024.
The ice arena will have a complex internal organization and will be able to host sports competitions of the highest level – up to the European and world championships in at least 11 sports, as well as congress events and concerts.
The transformation of the arena from one sport to another or the arrangement of a concert venue will take from 6 to 18 hours
