The main campus of the university is situated in the Charbagh area of the Swat District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.

The university came into formal existence in July, 2010 by the order of Honorable Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Awais Ahmad Ghani with the prior approval of the President of Pakistan.

The Higher Education Department handed over two buildings to the university located at Saidu Sharif Swat.

The university shortlisted top students based on merit from the most senior batches of all bachelor's and master's degree programs and communicated.

There are now the following schools/institutes/departments with 3500+ students: The Chancellor Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan established the Institute of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Hospitality Management.

The aim of the department is to produce experts in the fields of medicine, agriculture, industry, the environment, genetics and Recombinant DNA technology.
