Veps National Volost

Its center was the village of Shyoltozero.The autonomy was declared as a self-governing territory on January 20, 1994, see ВЕПСЫ..., p. 207[1] and, after resolving various territorial and administrative controversies,[2] it was established as an administrative unit on December 2, 1996.

[8] After its disestablishment, within the territory three rural municipalities were established: ru:Шокшинское вепсское сельское поселение, ru:Шелтозерское вепсское сельское поселение, and ru:Рыборецкое вепсское сельское поселение subordinated back to Prionezhsky District.
