Vertigo modesta, common name the cross vertigo, is a species of small air-breathing land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusk or micromollusk in the family Vertiginidae, the whorl snails.

[1] (Described as Isthmia corpulenta) The shell is rimate perforate, elongate ovate, finely striated, polished, translucent, dark olive brown.

The shell contains four whorls, convex, tumid, wider at the base.

The aperture is large, subcircular, with four obtuse teeth, one on the parietal margin, one on the columellar margin, and two on the outer lip.
