It was built by King Vittalarayar under the jurisdiction of Empire Sri Krishnadeva Rayar in 1547 AD.
Vittilapuram hosts many temples including Sri Panduranga Vittalar, Virbakasheswar, Vandimalachi Ammam Kovil, Bala Vinayagar, and Tiruvaikuntapathi Swami.
