Volodymyr Zabolotnyi (architect)

August 1] 1898 in a family of craftsmen in the village of Karan (later renamed into Trubailivka) of Poltava Governorate, which today is part of the city of Pereiaslav.

During his student years, he participated in competitions for design at the Palace of Culture in Rostov on Don (1925) and Kyiv Film Studios (1926).

At the beginning of 1930s, Zabolotny was a chief architect of DIPROMIST[1] (Ukrainian State Science Research Institute of City Planning).

Along with it, Zabolotny also created a Palace of Culture of the Dnipro Metallurgical Combine in Kamianske and the Regional Consumer Association[2] building in Vinnytsia.

His finest creation was the Verkhovna Rada building for which he received an honorary diploma from the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Ukraine and a prize of 5,000 rubles.
