[3] Born in Hillingdon,[4] he joined West Ham United as an apprentice, making two League appearances for them.
[3] His debut came on 26 December 1983 as a substitute against Southampton, whilst his final game was the last match of the 1983-84 season, against Everton.
[4] After an initial loan spell at Northampton Town, he joined the Cobblers on a permanent basis during 1985–86.
[3] Donald went on to play 188 League games for them in total,[3] and was a member of the side that won promotion from the Fourth Division in 1986-87.
