Wathena is a city in Doniphan County, Kansas, United States,[1] located about 5 miles (8.0 km) west of St. Joseph, Missouri.

As of the census[10] of 2010, there were 1,364 people, 550 households, and 365 families living in the city.

As of the census[11] of 2000, there were 1,348 people, 524 households, and 345 families living in the city.
