Weiss (crater)

Weiss is a lunar impact crater along the southern edge of the Mare Nubium.

The northern rim of this crater has been removed and the interior flooded by lava, leaving a nearly featureless surface.

The southern half of the rim still survives, although it is eroded in places.

A smaller crater just to the east of Weiss E has incised the low rise along the northeastern side.

By convention these features are identified on lunar maps by placing the letter on the side of the crater midpoint that is closest to Weiss.
