Wendell Holmes Stephenson (March 13, 1899 – April 14, 1970) was an American professor of history.
Prior to attending college, he worked as a teacher in Clayton, Indiana and as the principal of the Plainfield High School.
Stephenson went on to earn a PhD from University of Michigan in 1928, with a dissertation entitled The Political Career of General James H.
[4] From 1924 to 1926, Stephenson served as an instructor and assistant professor of history and political science at the University of Kentucky, and from 1927 to 1945, he served as an associate professor of history at Louisiana State University.
He became dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Louisiana State University and was president of the Southern Historical Association in 1944.
