West Carleton was a township municipality in Eastern Ontario, Canada.
It was located in the rural parts of what is now the City of Ottawa, west of Kanata.
At the time, it had a population of about 8,000 and was the largest municipality in the province by area.
[1] In 2001 it was amalgamated with Cumberland, Gloucester, Goulbourn, Kanata, Nepean, Osgoode, Ottawa, Rideau, Rockcliffe Park and Vanier to form the new city of Ottawa.
