Connecticut Route 309 is the main road through the community, leading east to Simsbury Center and northwest to North Canton.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the West Simsbury CDP has a total area of 4.4 square miles (11.3 km2), all land.

10.1% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

None of the families and 1.3% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 5.6% of those over 64.

With the help of the Simsbury Land Trust, much of Tulmeadow Farm's farmland is protected from future development.
