Westerlee is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen.

It is located in the municipality of Oldambt, about 3 km west of the city of Winschoten.

Westerlee was a separate municipality until 1821, when it was merged with Scheemda.

[3] The village was first mentioned in 13th century as Westerle, and means "western burial mound".

[4] Westerlee is a road village which developed on the south side of the former Winschoten peninsula.
