William Alexander (Glasgow MP)

Brigadier-General Sir William Alexander, KBE, CB, CMG, DSO, TD (4 May 1874 – 29 December 1954)[1] was a British businessman, British Army officer, civil servant, and Scottish Unionist Party politician.

[2] Educated at Kelvinside Academy, the University of Glasgow, and Göttingen, Alexander was commissioned into the Territorial Force in 1899, becoming captain in 1906, major in 1915, and brigadier general in 1917.

He also received the French Legion of Honour, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus.
