William C. Wait

William Cushing Wait (December 18, 1860 – January 28, 1935) was a justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court from 1923 to 1934.

[1][2] He worked in the office of former Boston mayor Nathan Matthews Jr. for a year before entering into a partnership with a Harvard classmate.

[2] In 1902, Governor Winthrop M. Crane appointed Wait to a seat on the Massachusetts Superior Court, and on December 26, 1923, Governor Channing H. Cox elevated Wait to a seat on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court vacated by the death of Charles Jenney.

[1][2] In December 1934, Wait petitioned Governor Ely to be retired due to his poor health.

[2] He died at his home in Medford, Massachusetts, at the age of 74, following a period of ill health.
