World Youth Day 2027 will be a Catholic festival taking place in Seoul, South Korea.
This was announced by Pope Francis at the end of the closing Mass of World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal.
[2] On 24 September 2024, Cardinal Farrell announced that the theme of the event will be “Take Courage, I have overcome the world” (Jn 16:33).
In the centre of the cross, a circular figure ('ieung'), envisions the glory of Jesus' victory - a call back to the theme for this edition's WYD.
[6] The brush strokes in the logo were inspired from the painting 'Inwang jesaekdo' by the late Joseon-era artist Gyeomjae Jeong Seon.
