Xenobatrachus subcroceus Menzies and Tyler, 1977[2] Xenorhina subcrocea is a species of frog in the family Microhylidae.
It is endemic to Papua New Guinea and is known from the New Guinean north coast, including coastal ranges between Vanimo and Lae.
[2] Xenorhina subcrocea occurs beneath leaf-litter in rainforests[1][2] at elevations below 1,000 m (3,300 ft).
[3] All the males in the type series were located by their calling and then excavated from beneath the leaf litter from holes or open spaces among plant roots.
[1] The forest at the type locality has been destroyed by infrastructure development, but intact habitat remains nearby.
