Yashkul (Russian: Я́шкуль, Kalmyk: Яшкуль, Yaşkuľ) is a rural locality (a settlement) and the administrative center of Yashkulsky District of the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia.
Population: 7,861 (2010 Census);[1] 7,399 (2002 Census);[2] 6,662 (1989 Soviet census).
[3] Yashkul has a cold semi-arid climate (Köppen climate classification BSk), with cold winters and some of the hottest summers in Russia.
