Tokushima Prefecture Yoshinogawa has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall.
[2] Per Japanese census data,[3] the population of Yoshinogawa has declined slowly over the past 30 years.
The area was divided into 11 villages within Oe District, Tokushima with the creation of the modern municipalities system on October 1, 1889.
[4][5] Yoshinogawa has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral city council of 20 members.
In terms of national politics, the city is part of Tokushima 2nd district of the lower house of the Diet of Japan.
