He has served as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan since August 16, 2024.
Yukihiko Imasaki was born in 1957 in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture.
He attended Kyoto University and graduated with a degree in Law in 1981.

In 2023, Imasaki presided over a Supreme Court ruling that toilet use restrictions placed on a transgender official at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry were illegal.
