[10] About two years later, he was the first deputy commander of the 8th Guards Army in the Group of Soviet Forces in East Germany, and was promoted to major general.
[13][14] After his graduation, he served as chief of staff - first deputy commander of the 35th Combined Arms Army in the Far Eastern Military District.
[17] On 2 August 1999, Yakubov had been appointed as the Commander of the Far Eastern Military District when he got promoted as a colonel general.
Since 2007, Yakubov had never break ties with his hometown, and had participated in many citywide events, being an example of his patriotism and valiant service to the Fatherland for the younger generation of Velikoluchens.
