The area is part of the traditional region of Styria.

It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Drava Statistical Region.

[2] The parish church in the settlement is dedicated to Saint Martin and belongs to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maribor.

[3] A number of archaeological sites close to the settlement show that the area has been settled since prehistory.

Of particular interest are the finds associated with the nearby Roman town of Poetovio.
