Previously he served as deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
He graduated from Shanghai International Studies University, where he majored in Russian language and literature.
In 1991 he was reassigned as an attaché and third secretary to the Chinese embassy in Kyrgyzstan.
[2] After a brief stint as assistant foreign minister,[3] he was promoted to deputy minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of relations with European and Central Asian countries.
[4][5] On August 10, 2019, he replaced Li Hui as the Chinese Ambassador to Russia.
