DEG monobutyl ether

Diethylene glycol butyl ether (2-(2-butoxyethoxy)ethanol) is the organic compound with the formula C4H9OC2H4OC2H4OH.

A colorless liquid, it is common industrial solvent.

It has low odour and high boiling point.

It is mainly used as a solvent for paints and varnishes in the chemical industry, household detergents, and textile processing.

:[1][2] Diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (DEGBE) is produced from butanol by ethoxylation, i.e., the reaction of ethylene oxide in the presence of a basic catalyst.

NFPA 704 four-colored diamond Health 1: Exposure would cause irritation but only minor residual injury. E.g. turpentine Flammability 2: Must be moderately heated or exposed to relatively high ambient temperature before ignition can occur. Flash point between 38 and 93 °C (100 and 200 °F). E.g. diesel fuel Instability 1: Normally stable, but can become unstable at elevated temperatures and pressures. E.g. calcium Special hazards (white): no code
