The regular season ended on March 17, 2024, with the 2024 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament beginning on March 20 and ended with the championship game at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 7.

Each of the 32 Division I athletic conferences ends its regular season with a single-elimination tournament.

"[94] The 2023–24 season was the first for the WBIT, created by the NCAA as a direct parallel to the men's National Invitation Tournament.

The NCAA extends WBIT bids to all regular-season conference champions that fail to reach the NCAA tournament (if eligible), a practice that it abandoned for the NIT after that tournament's 2023 edition.

The 2023–24 season was the 26th for the WNIT, which featured 48 teams that were not selected for either the NCAA Tournament or the WBIT.

The NCAA does not recognize The Sporting News as an All-America selector in women's basketball.
