Anthony Francis Dominic Milner[1] (13 May 1925 – 22 September 2002) was a British composer, teacher and conductor.
He was awarded a bursary to attend the Royal College of Music, where he studied piano with Herbert Fryer and theory with R. O. Morris.
Milner's own teaching career began at Morley College, London, where he taught music theory and history from 1948 to 1964.
[citation needed] In 1985 Pope John Paul II appointed Anthony Milner a Knight of St. Gregory, in recognition of his work for Catholic liturgical music.
[4] Milner's early compositions were influenced by Michael Tippett, who was Morley College's music director at the time of his appointment to the staff.
